| I have a chance to buy armalite stripped lowers and was wondering about quality.I have read alot of the boards but Armalite doesn't seem to be a frontrunner in the AR-15.Just wondering why not.pro's and con's please. Thanks in advance |
+3 They are good to go... Previously on AR15.COM and... A little history |
| I know I'm one of those picky gun owners but my Armalite upper and lower are have a lot of scuffs and scratches under the anadizing, meaning it was there at the factory. Also the upper and lower fit together kind of lose with a little slop. I know the rifle will still go bang and operate flawelessly but they don't seem to care about fit and finish as much as RRA (which I'm use to). |
That's not been my experience. Best fit and finish on any of my ARs was my M15A2. |
Because they don't sell junk and nothing bad can be said. |

The Armalite of today is good quality. Just remember, though, it is NOT the original "Armalite," which was a division of Fairchild Aircraft, and folded back around 1960. "AR" stands for "Armalite Rifle," not "Armalite." The only company that can legally use the "AR-15" name today is Colt, because it purchased the original trademark rights when Fairchild divested itself of the old, original Armalite. The term "AR-15" is used generically to describe the whole breed, but legally, only a Colt is an actual "AR-15." That's why all the other makers out there have to call their weapons something else besides an "AR-15" (example, RRA uses "LAR-15," etc). |
And the original Jeep was owned by Willies ![]() FYI...AR stands for ArmaLite |
