I took my AR to my local gun shop and had them replace my birdcage flash hider out for a "cool" Troy midevil one.
I'm new to AR's so when I got home I noticed they installed the troy brake (almost closed in on the front) instead of the troy midevil flash hider (open in the front like birdcage).

What's the difference and would you guys take it back to the shop and trade? I have not shot it yet with the "brake" hider.

Thanks for helping the newbie!

Do you do a lot of rapid fire?  If so the brake should work well.  But if it isn't what you wanted take it back and have them make it right.

I don't rapid fire a lot. I really don't mind the look of the brake but what is the difference between the brake and a flash hider? Will the brake effect night vision?

Thanks guys for the help.

The brake is designed to improve accuracy during full auto/rapid fire.
