Hi guys,

I have a big scope on one of my AR's.  The problem is that it does not really fit in the safe with the scope on.  So.... does anyone have experience with a scope mount that they regularly take on and off and it's ability to retain "zero".

Thanks!

LaRue.

If I could do it all over again.  Instead I settled for Burris, and there is a slight shift in zero, not much though.  I notice it at longer ranges.  I'd buy the LaRue rings If I was back in the market.

eh... Just La Rue?  Could you chime in on the model and your experiences?  I see they have a lot options... http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Categories.bok?category=Optic+Mounts

You'll want a "one" piece mount here, LaRue makes a good one, Armalite makes a good one, as do many others.

Make certain the mount you have chosen has a flat-top cut "slot" under the bottom of it - and make certain you slide that "slot" jam up tight on your flat-top when mounting the scope "EACH" time.

FWIW, I'm running a Mamba (w/ 25MOA built into it) but then it's on my long range AR and I "never" take it off for w/ 500 yard + shots NO mount is capable of being removed and replaced and being dead nuts on when fired (I ain't saying it'll be miles off here and at 100 yards it may look good, as in no POI change,  but NO shooter worth his salt would depend in the manner you are asking about on a one piece mount he'd taken off then replaced..., he'd recheck the zero at long range IF he wants to know for certain where his POI will be).

Larue, or ADM both work well, but I'd go with Larue just because they are more established.  I think Armalite makes one as well and it is less expensive, but I'm not sure if it is QD w/ repeat zero.
