I see in various gallery threads that people position their vertical foregrip from very close to the magwell to very far out to the limits and everything in between.

Is the thinking behind this that a close foregrip allows you faster transitions and less fatigue?

Is the thinking behind a far out mount that it gives you more fine tuning in magnified optics and a more tucked in elbow?

Is there a good article on this?

Put the grip out as far as is comfortable for you.

It's a personal thing-one way doesn't work for everyone.

It is personal preferance. I prefer mine close to magwell. It is a good balance point for me. I can hold to my shoulder with both my weak and strong hands this way. If need be one hand can be freed momentarly while keeping a sight picture.

personal preference.  I run mine differently depending on the length of the barrel.

I keep mine right in the middle
