Hi fellas, I'm farely new to this forum. I'm looking to custom build an M4 & was wondering if anyone new where I can get a patriot ordinance factory-USA P-415 gen 1,2 or 3 billeted stripped lower or complete lower? I was also wondering what upper would line up with this lower nicely? Some rifles like dpms have gaps and alot of play in their weapons.

Did you buy the complete rifle? They really look like one of the best out there. How do you rate yours compared to others?

I used a cmmg lower and with the money saved put in a match trigger and then put the pof upper on top of that.  Still ended saving about 200 dollars for all the same stuff but to my own specific design.  gotta love it

Money saved is just money reserved for even more BRD goodness

Very nice!!

I was thinking about a POF lower with a mid vltor upper just need to find out where a good lower parts kit is to complete the lower. And a good barrel to go with the vltor..

Mr Duff, Welcome to arfcom.

Thanks for joining,

Rainier arms in WA, is dealer here who carrys the parts you want, I myself too wouldnt mind a POF or a sundevil lower...

If you havnt looked, take a peek at Sundevil, they make an upper and a lower made very similar to the POF. The Sundevil upper&lower fit together and their lines match up nicely.

POF Gen.I 415 Lower stripper is 205.00
RRA stage 2 nm lower parts kit  180.00
Magpul trigger guard 19.00
Vltor E-Mod Stock 119.00

Now i would like the Vltor Monolithic upper- car its 580.00 but by the time i add a barrel and bolt assembly Im over 1500 dollars!!! This will be my first time building a rifle i would like the gas piston upper but i dont know much about putting it together, or how much itll cost compared to their already built one.

On patriot ordinance firearms site they have a P-415-16-P9SX-CF-223 CARBINE loaded gas piston and all for 1900...  what do you guys think i should do??

That's a lot of money.  I'm not saying you shouldn't... but don't assume because you're spending more on "premium" components that you're getting an equal return on your investment.

Some drawbacks here is that the gas-piston setup is noticeably heavier than a standard direct-impingment system.  I've got one, I know.  It also tends to be a bit less accurate due to the piston setup.  Still plenty accurate, but if you're looking for the utmost in accuracy it can be found elsewhere and for cheaper.

The bolt carrier group does stay significantly cleaner with the piston setup, however.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for.  What rifles do you already own?  What is your goal with this build?

If it were me, based on what I've used and what I've seen, I'd call up Denny at Global Tactical Supply, tell him what I want and have him build me a rifle/upper.  I have never been more pleased than with the upper he put together for me.

I do agree, that it is a bit pricey. I appreciate your oppinion on the gas piston upper, I really don't know much about that system. What do you think about the vltor mur car upper? I kind of like the integrated rail system. Can Denny at global supply build me a complete upper with this system? I have my mind set on the lower, really like POF's style. As far as other weapons ive had, I had a bushmaster m4a3, but when I went to the military and put in a recon unit we had top of the line gear. Seen and used a lot of weapons. I just thought I'd try to start building my own. But i Dont know it seems to be just as expensive if not more to build your own.

I love my POF lower. It is pricey but it is sweet. I picked mine up from a local dealer.
I just asked him to order me one direct from POF and got in in less than a week!
The parts to go on it....well that is one of the next to do projects. I am looking at three possible uppers La Rue, Vltor, or Sun Devil.

Many ideas little money............don't we all know it!

does the POF accept a RDIAS? It looks as though the sun devil will certainly not...
