i just went and put my first ar on layaway just wondering what your thoughts on the dpms a15 are the price was right so i put it on layaway they said it was a civilian model so it did not have a forward assist just wondering if it is a good gun

Based on the fact that they told you it didn't have a forward assist because it was a "civilian model", I would be curious to know if the price was really right or not.

What model is it and what did you pay?

i paid 635 new with two mags and a hard case are they good guns

I would say that's a good price. You will find some DPMS bashing around but the same is true for all brands. While they might not be the cream of the crop, I would not hesitate owning one.

They are bullshitting you on the no forward assist thing. The lo pro is a very inexpensive model, you paid about the going price. All of my AR15s have forward assists and ejection port covers. Dpms skips that on the lo pro because they are cutting corners on that model.

Also the lo pro not only lacks any sights but the gas block does not have a rail so there is no way to mount a front sight. edit maybe they do now.....

edit it's probably fine for target shooting, coyote hunting etc

DPMS is good enough quality to do pretty much anything with.

good to know i ave wanted an ar for a long time but did not like the price but for the price of this i could not turn it down i just want it for plinking and varmint hunting do you all no of any red dot scopes that don't cost $300

they are't clones, they just look the same on the outside. Might as well just buy a $ 20 BSA and not pay the extra for the "aimpoint-ish" airsoft scope body
