I currenty have two M4's, a Colt, and a Stag. I don't know if I should try to build my own or go with a Bushy. I know Bushmaster has a good name but I have never had the chance to fire one. What about RRA, and DPMS, is their quality up there with Colt and Bushmaster? Thanks |

I won't comment on an RRA vs Colt comparison because of the immediate shit storm generated when the Hive gets into the Mil-Spec vs Commercial Spec discussion. That said, I can guarantee you that an RRA is every bit as good as a Bushy and in many people's eyes, better. Now that RRA offers light weight, chrome lined barrels for their CARs, Bushy's gritty trigger makes their offering no match for RRA's CAR with their NM 2 stage trigger. In addition, with the popularity of the middy gas system, RRA's Elite series has a well earned reputation for a great buy while Bushy still doesn't even make a middy yet. So, if you are asking, Bushy or RRA? It's RRA for the win. |

Thanks! I don't really know much about the mil spec vs. commercial spec stuff, but you never know when your life could depend on the weapon so I would rather spend a couple hundred extra bucks for the superior rifle.... but I'm no millionare so cost is a factor. Stupid black rifle disease... can't own just one AR, wish I had one of each brand. |

I wasn't impressed with the quality of the new Bushmasters that I saw when I was looking to buy my first one, so I went with a RRA middy. However, when I bought my next one, I got a pre-ban Bushmaster 20" that was much better made. As far as brands in general go, I think either one of these (as well as a number of other choices) would be fine. You probably should evaluate them on a weapon by weapon basis though. |

Since you have the carbine gas systems already I would suggest getting a midlength gas system next. Midlength advantages are smoother action, longer sight radius, longer handguards for hand and accessories, also don't require extra power bolt extractor spring and H buffer. Take a look at Sabre Defence, Armalite (medium/ heavy contour barrel) and Noveske (they will have midlength models soon - see link below). If you don't care for a middy then take a look at these other brands: LMT Noveske S&W Sabre Defence Armalite I've got Colts (16" middy and 20" rifle), LMT and RRA and would have no problem getting the other brands that I listed. Noveske N4 Mid-Length Is Coming.... thread link |

I hate to refer to another site but this is a pretty good comparison. At the end of the day however, for 90% of the people out there, just about any of them will be fine. Keep in mind this is from last year so changes may have occured since then. http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=6642 Cheers, cc |

Funny, your post sounds like me. I also had just two M4s, a Colt 6920 and a Stag. I just got into ARs last November. I've been reading these boards daily since then. I put the Stag together w/ a complete Stag lower ($240 delivered from Delton) and a complete Stag upper w/ BUIS ($490 delivered from Legal Transfers). Anyway, I just put together my third AR. I got a CMMG lower w/ the LPK installed from AIM for $180 delivered. I then got a CTR stock kit from AIM for $150 delivered. Just yesterday I received a CMMG complete lightweight midlength 14.5" lower w/ the Egress bolt upgrade for $630 delivered. I have not shot it yet, but I think this rounds out my small M4 collection quite well. I would consider building your own and also consider CMMG. AIM did have complete CMMG uppers for $500 delivered. Add a CTR and lower w/ LPK and you have a complete CMMG rifle for $830 (except for a BUIS). |

you've already bought two complete rifles. You should try to build your own for the third. At the very least, you should assemble the lower and buy a complete upper. It'll be a great learning experience. Also, since you have two M4's already, you should try something else. 20" rifle, 16" midlength, 18" SPR, etc. |
