Ok guys I need some clarification on this subject. Why are heavier BCGs more desirable in defensive weapons rather then the lighter ones? I don't really understand why a lighter BCG would cause a rifle to malfunction more then a heavier one. I just ordered a Young National Match Bolt Carrier Group "light" because it advertises less recoil. Seeing that my rifle is intended as a Home defense weapon, I'm worried I might have mad a wrong decision. After researching, I found that most people tend to stray away from lighter BCGs for personal defense and action shooters lean toward them. I just done get it. Please explain.

They have more recoil,,yes.

A heavier / m16 carrier will run smoother since there is more mass involved, It will start moving slower and have the ability to over come "sticky parts"

And Eugene designed it that way
