I have a fsc556 and think it works great, but for a three gun rifle that doesn't need any flash hiding is the micculek better.

i would go with a  YHM-5M1.  my brothers AR sports one and it is sweet.  looks of an aggresive flashider but a very functional brake

My wallet voted for the FSC. Eats flash better than an A2 hider and works well as a comp.

Miculek.

I am not sure if the other one is even legal - at least for Limited or Tactical division.

Try the 3gun section of www.brianenos.com

How is it that the FSC is a better flashhider than the A2, yet is not classified as a flashhider but the A2 is?

the fsc 556 is not a better as a flash hider than and A2, and is classified as a flash suppressor rather than a flash hider. It is however much better than the average as far as muzzle brakes go, and is supposed to suppress enough flash to keep your scope clear and not flare night vision equipment. I should have mine next week, I'll see if I can get it out to the desert and test it with the scope. no NVG

Negative.  The website itself says "This device has been classified as a non-flash suppressing device by the BATFE."

Incorrect. The last two photos in this series will show you the way FSC556, it's worth the money.

PS. It is called a comp/brake by the BATF probably because it's PRIMARY function is as a brake/comp. I am sure there are loop-holes and all. Kindof like in racing back in the day one guy used a huge fan to generate downforce and it was ruled a cooling-fan and allowed because "XX"% of the air it drew came through the radiator. I bet this is kindof the same thing.

If I want a BRAKE/COMP then I can care Less about FLASH

I think COMP/BRAKE are made for MATCH TYPE SHOOTS

IN THE DAY LIGHT

If I was shooting 3 gun match I would go MICCULEK !!!!!!!
you aint shooting at nite right

MICCULEK HELPS ON FOLLOW UP SHOTS

What about someone who wants it for a work or home defence weapon? Then flash and ESPECIALLY blast becomes a consideration. This is where the FSC556 comes into its own.

The question was never really does the fsc556 work.  Those of us that own one know that the flash suppressing value of this comp it comparable if not better than an A2.  The question at hand was if anyone had experience with both components, which would they choose for their next build if flash elimination played no part in their decision.

The miculek comp works great... but is a loud bastard... particularly for the guy shooting next to you.

Note: I wouldn't advise lighting off a round indoors with a miculek-comp-equipped rifle and no hearing protection.

very good advice, and a little more maybe about just gun stabilization during precision shooting?  This gun will be used stricly as my "reach out and touch someone" gun.  MAIN PREMISE quick follow up shots at a couple hundred yards.

Then I use my PHANTOM

I WOULD NEVER EVER PUT A BRAKE/COMP ON A SHTF CARBINE

looks like that Brake was made for a CAN
wich will hid the FLASH

The Miculek comp is one of the best comps I've ever seen.  I would say in terms of recoil reduction (force back) his works better than ours.  In terms of compensation (holding the muzzle down and on target) they are even.

The FSC556 is designed to be a competition grade muzzle brake while also suppressing the flash enough to keep it out of your optics.  The flash is something funny - as it never bothered me when shooting long distances until it wasn't there.  Once I got used to it, going back to something that didn't suppress the flash (like the DNTC) made me really notice the difference.

In the end - the difference in price is huge.  However, if we weren't confident enough that our product was worth the money, we couldn't offer a money back guarantee.

Hope this helps.

Its one of the BEST out there!

But I only would use it for what I already said

FSC556 wasnt it made to work with a CAN?????

IF SO THEN THERES NOT MUCH FLASH WHEN A CAN IS USED

I will take a Bird cage or PHANTOM over it anyday

My Follow up shots are VERY fast since I use a Heavy Buffer

The Buffer works better than ANY Comp/Brake Ive used since the last 20+years or more

Can a CAN be used with this comp/brake
Just wondering

cans can be used with the fsc556.  In fact it was made specifically for the gemtech halo.  The peel washer lets it go right on without and fuss or marks
3/16/2008 8:59:38 PM EDT
[#26]
Correct - when we developed the FSC556, we worked with Gemtech to make sure it worked well with the HALO.  We also have a quickcomp version coming out in the next month or so that has the bi-lock ears for a Gemtech G5 or M496-D.

PWS,

I also heard that you guys are making some type of "demonstration" or "display" model of the halo.  One that would be civi legal.  This is probably wrong, but I figure while I got you one the phone......

Gemtech makes some of the dummy cans for displays, but I don't think they sell them.  I could be wrong, but that is my thought right now.
