I have heard that you should not mount optics to the forearm.  Anyone agree? Why not?

I somewhat dissagree. It really depends on what forearm you have. If its just a standard plastic one than i would say no youll lose zero. If its a good quality railed forearm that locks into place(like the Surefire) or a good freefloat then i think its ok.

Agree, sort of.  No matter how stable your FF rail is, it can still move.  I would not mount a scope on the rail of a precision rifle, but it's "OK, I guess" for an Eotech.  Speed does not necessarily require pinpoint precision.

However, I wouldn't do it unless it was expressly to mount night vision behind it.
