Alright I shot a friends RRA and his trigger was AWESOME. Gentle smooth pull. Not a heavy clunk like mine. Is this what a match trigger is? Whats a recommended upgrade? |
| What you need is a Bill Springfield trigger job. It is easily the best $ I spent upgrading an AR. |
WOA sells tuned RRA 2 stage triggers for $120. I LOVE mine. I am a rookie service rifle shooter and the experienced guys suggested it. WOA can tune it less than the 4.5 pound service rifle rule if you want. True match triggers tend to break measured in ounces, not pounds. I like mine the way it is. Check out the DCM/High Power forum for more info on the triggers that shooters really like. |
| The RRA NM 2 Stage is probably one of the best upgrades available for the price. I remember buying mine for $79 during a special from Eagle Firearms I believe. I like it better than my CMC that was twice the price. It's not as good as the Geissele triggers I've used, but they're pretty damn good. |

yes. As an aside, I have a WOA tuned and a couple stock RRAs. The difference between the two is very subtle. I am not a good enough shooter to appreciate the difference between these two, and I suspect few people are. The RRAs are nice triggers. If you decide not to spend that much $, then I think the springfield trigger job is the best way to go. |
After checking out the link you posted, I've decided to have springfield do the trigger in my other rifle. It looks like the best way to get a nice trigger for a reasonable $. |

I use a JP Reduced Spring kit on my ARs. www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=7582&title=AR-15%20REDUCED%20POWER%20SPRING%20KIT Before I install the spring kit, I use Flitz on the sear/hammer engagement and work the trigger a few hundred times. Even tooth paste will smooth out the engagement surfaces but is messy. After working the trigger several hundred times _ make sure you cushion the fall against the mag well - I put in the spring kit. I also polish the hammer/trigger pins with steel wool so that they are as smooth as possible. I also lube them really well. It make the trigger break more smooth with less trigger pull. It's quite a bit cheaper than putting in an aftermarket trigger kit. |
Rock River Arms supplies the best STANDARD trigger in the industry. It is the best value in my opinion. You can spend more but improvement is academic-that is unusable in practical application. |

Basically, a 2-stage trigger has 2 distinct phases or stages of trigger pull. The first stage takes up any slack and puts the sear right on the brink of releasing. You can hold the trigger in this position indefinitely, and when you want to fire just a teeny bit more pressure will drop the hammer. It's great for timed firing, like the army's qualification course, and lets you wait for the 2nd target to pop up, practice breath control, etc, and then take the shot with doing little more than thinking about pulling the trigger. Just make sure to use the tip of your finger (under the nail) or you probably won't have the necessary tactile sensitivity to consistently stage the trigger. Every M16 and AR I've ever fired had a 2-stage trigger. I've found almost all of them to be very good, but the best of all time was on my very pre-ban M1A. Man, I miss that rifle! |
Correct. Check here for a great price: www.colemantyler.com/proddetail.php?prod=RRALRNMT&cat=85 EDIT: I own the RRA's 2 stage and am very happy with it. No problems, and smooth and precise. For under 100 clams, it cant be beat. |
I got mine at ADCO for $95.00 just 2 weeks ago. I already have hundreds of rounds downrange, and I love this trigger. |
Very enthusiastically ++ 1 this. It is the best 36$ I have ever spent on a trigger. You choose: -4lbs., no creep, wonderful single stage pull, which you can install yourself, equal to some much more expensive triggers. -$150-300 on a trigger, no matter how good it is, saps your ammo stash money.

Great site! I ended up ordering the trigger, 3 more mags, and a case since I've just been wrapping my AR with t-shirts in a gym bag. hahahaah I know I'm a noob. Thanks again guys! |

15 Minute Practical Trigger Job for the AR-15 Trigger Job If you are unhappy with your results, at the most, you have only ruined two springs, three dollars worth of parts. This slight polishing with the compound will not harm your Hammer and Trigger in any way. Love my trigger it's like breaking a small glass tube. Little pressure then BANG smooth break. I like it better than the 2 stage RRA trigger I used the DPMS lpk |
![]() QUOTE: Redesigned geometry adds a clean-breaking, smooth-feeling trigger with a light pull to any AR-15. Speedlock hammer and disconnect are EDM-cut from solid stainless, then heat treated for durability. Trigger and hammer feature improved sear angle and notch with neutral engagement for lighter letoff and minimum creep. Adjustable for weight of pull from 3½ to 4½ lbs. Brownells |
I had a guy try out my AR with the Geissele DMR 2-stage trigger right after I put it in. After about 10 rounds, he came back and told me, "The trigger feels nice, but it keeps hanging up." I guess he never used a 2-stage trigger before. I said, "it's a 2-stage trigger" and he stared back blankly. Oh well... Dan |
What do you mean? I've never handled a 2-stage trigger before. Is he talking about the reset? |
I love most ALL S&W Handguns The trigger on my 6906 I cant compare it to my LMT Defender 2000 M4 with 2 stage trigger Or My LMT M4 with regular standard trigger |
| Many DA/SA handguns have nearly unweighted slack that you can take up on the SA before you know that the trigger will go off if you pull it any more. It feels like that but the weight is a greater % of the total trigger weight and the overall travel is shorter. Thats what a 2 stage trigger feels like. |
