| I have an older Colt government model 20" rifle with the sear block in it, also has the half circle bolt carrier and an un shrouded firing pin. Could I switch to a regular carrier(semi or auto) with no problem? Also can the sear block be removed, i see what appears to a set screw holding it in, or is it a permanent fixture? |
Why is this? What is in the way? I have a Colt with a sear block and have used other carriers. I would not reccomend you remove the sear block. Wesley |
The sear block is pinned into place in the lower receiver, and part of it sticks up above the top surface of it. This protrution was designed to prohibit the use of an M16 bolt carrier in the rifle. I had a Colt once with a sear block, but the upper half of it was milled down flush with the top of the lower receiver by the previous owner. |
I would leave it alone I ran carriers like yours with no issues |
