| I have a 16" carbine right now and ready for my next build. I am asking for all opinions on this. I have read the latest post on the whole "What to buy" topic. My question is what is the 20" like as far as maneuverability. Can this gun be as quick and smooth as a carbine. I am also wanting this to be for my future wife. Is this a gun that a female can manipulate? Also I can shoot the open sights, but can a female as a whole gender do well with the irons or should I get a flattop and an optic? If she were to be at home alone and an intruder came in what would be best for her? If the 20" is too long than I will get a shorter one. What is the price to get an SBR registered? |
For HD, a 20" AR is not the best choice. Like it was suggested, a 14.5" with a permanently pinned Phantom FH would serve the purpose very well. No SBR stuff to worry about. However, if you opt for a 14.5" without a permanently pinned Phantom FH, or a shorter barrel, then you are looking at $200 plus the paperwork and a waiting period to get the tax stamp back. Personally, I have a 11.5" SBR, a 16" carbine, 14.5" carbine, a 20" A1, and a 18" Mk12 Mod 0 SPR. I could use any of the first three for HD. The SBR is equipped fo such.
