I bought a A3 carry handle from CDNN.

This one has marking which looks like a mushroom with two lines next to it on the right side in front of the sight base.

Also the thumb nuts do not fully unthread of the studs.

Can anyone with a Colt confirm this is a Colt carry handle? My CMMG upper was shipped with one of there handles and the marks are different and the thumb nuts come all the way off.

The nuts are not supposed to come out- at least the many Colt carry handles Ive used have not...

Colt is the only maker that takes the time to stake the nuts, so you won't lose one by unscrewing it all the way and then dropping it.  At home it probably wouldn't matter, but out in the field???

You should also be aware that Colt sights are .04 inch higher than the commercial stuff. So, if you're going to use the unit on a carbine type piece, you're either going to need an F base front sight unit, or an .04 inch higher front sight blade.

This was intentional on Colt's part. They designed the detachable sight unit so that the peep is exactly the same height as the sights on both the M16A1, and A2. When the aftermarket started making the things, they cut the height of the sight base  by .04, so they wouldn't have to use the higher front sight.
