I'm pretty new to this site and found it to be very helpful and informative. The topics, technical info and membership knowlage I've seen here is greatly appreciated.

I'm not new to being an AR-15 owner. But, admittently am not as AR educated as the majority here. I owned one back some years ago and sold it to a close friend when I got heavily into a different type of shooting sport. Over the last 1 1/2 years I've been agonizing and anxious to get back into AR target shooting and a high power league.

I've been considering on getting the Rock River NM A4 or the Bushmaster A3 DCM. If you guys could make both positive and negative comments to what I'm considering I would greatly appreciated it. I've been leaning toward the Bushmaster but, only because they have been around longer in the AR world (correct me if I'm wrong). I use to own a 20" Colt HBAR Match Sporter. I've been unable to replace or find one new in my search for the last 2 months. I should of never let it go. Kicking myself in the a$$ now. Oh well. This one will not be let go.

Sorry for rambling on. It's my first post here and I figured I'd be clean and straight shooting with you guys from the get-go. Thanks.

Welcome aboard! I prefer the RRA over the Bushy and I own a Bushmaster.(Got it Cheap) There was just a thread on this subject in the Highpower/DCM/CMP forum in the Training section and it was pretty much unanimous for RRA.
I am new to Highpower and the guys on the HP/DCM/CMP board have been a huge help. Stop by and say hello. Ron

2506, thanks for the heads up. There is alot of good stuff in that section. I'm new to this site and it will be awhile until I catch on a bit.

Maybe I'm going overkill with a DCM/CMP version but, I just thought that if I going to buy another AR for targets and shoot in an semiformal league this would be a good choice. Maybe a target HBAR will be more than enough. In the full scheme of things it's not that more expensive. In my area it would cost 1 1/2 times the price to put together a DCM version then buying a factory one.

I'm looking to get into High Power this summer and am starting to build my rifle. The RRA NM seems to be the standard from what I've read.

The consensus is the RRA has a better trigger.  If sticking with one brand, and buying OTC, I'd pick RRA.

Another option:  get any decent lower (or build one) and use either RRA triger components or upgrade to a Geissele.  If you go with a RRA, have John Holliger from White Oak Precision (WOP) do his $25 mod to it.  Many folks swear by his work, and what you'll have in the end is a proper trigger that makes weight and stays consistent.

Then purchase a White Oak Armament (WOA) upper.  WOA is a sister company to WOP, they build good uppers with good barrels.  If you're willing to spend more, get a WOP upper with a Krieger barrel, but my advice is go with a WOA for now until you get back into it.

Additional mods you might want to consider (both offered by WOA):  pinned rear sight and barrel dimpled for FSB to allow setting mechanical zero with set screws.
