Hi, new to this site, did a search and did not really find in one place what I was loooking for. I'd like to buy a stock AR (223) for vamint hunting, don't want to build as this will be my first one. While in the military we'd have to qualify with them every year and what I have read about them is the extent of my knowledge on them. Would like to keep it under $1000 and be able to mount it with a scope. Thanks for any input, Tim

Looks like RRA meets your price and specs for a VARMINT rifle.

I've looked at the RRA site several times now (Varmint A-4 is the one I have been looking at, one thing I'd change is the butt stock to the skeleton version), no one sells them around here, do know a guy with his license I 'm going to talk to though and see  what it would take for him to get me one and if he knows much about AR's. Every one around here sells the DPMS brand. Have not heard anything bad about them though. Well thanks for the input guys.

Get an LMT upper, LMT BCG, and LMT lower, and assemble them.  You'll have less than 1,000 into it.

Can't go wrong with RRA for a very good AR for a good price.  My brother in law just picked up an RRA AR with 16" stainless barrel, RRA 2 stage trigger (VERY smooth, light trigger), A2 Buttstock, and FF tube for around $850 from our local EBR dealer.

We went shooting this past Sunday and he is getting .5" groups from 100 yds. using my reloads (Win brass, Win SR primer, 24.8 gr. Tac and 55 gr Hornady V-Max bullet), and this was on a VERY windy day.

So LMT makes a varmint gun now?

Get the RRA. Great price, great shooters, crappy lead times.
