Hi Guys: Could someone explain the differences between a Colt Sporter H-BAR, and a Colt Match Target H-BAR. Also I am a little confused on a Colt pre ban, post ban AR15 collector desirability. I can purchase a new Target match H-Bar for just over $1000.00 on line at a number of dealers, but I see auctions or posts for factory stock used Colts for the same or more than that. Am I missing something? I tried to use the search engine to find this information, but it doesn’t work very well. Thanks Mike McKinney |
| As near as I can tell from my reference, the two are pre and post-ban versions of the same rifle, with the main difference being the muzzle device. The Match Target either has no muzzle device, or a pinned-on compensator to be compliant with the Ban. The HBAR Sporter has the conventional military style threaded FH. The Pre-Ban Sporter is a M6600 and the Post, a M6601. I believe a pristine M6600 would be worth more than than the 6601 given that the 6600 is pre-Ban, but wouldn't want to speculate on how much. |
