| I shot my AR yesterday and got excellent groups with umc rounds. Is there anything equal to or better than accuracy wise as umc that can be bought in bulk. I bought the umc box of 20 for 7.57 per box. I am looking to buy some bulk to save a little money. Basically my question is: What is equivelant to or better in accuracy and price as the umc only in bulk? |

Hard to say ususlay better in accuracy and price usualy dont go together.Match ammo will give the best consisten results but its pricey. If your gettin good groups stay with that and by match ammo for serious target shooting or matches official or informal.I buy it when shooting against friends in what we call a skins match for rifles..$10 a shot,10 shots at 100 yards highest score out of a possible 100 points. If I win I make my money back with extra for less quality ammo |
| If UMC is shooting great in your rifle, I'd stick with it. Even bulk surplus isn't going for much, if any cheaper right now. You could easily pay that much for remanufactured or cheap Czech surplus these days. To get any more frugal, Wolf and equivalent about the only option at the moment. And, to get any more consistent ammo, you're going to spend more. |
| UMC is typically very inconsistent in my experience. Best groups I have ever shot with it was 5" @ 100 but it's ok for my SBR. Any time I have run it over a chronograph I have seen a large ES and a pretty large SD as well. However, if it's working for you then I am not sure you'll find anything that will be any better without costing more. I'ld say stick with it for now. |
