Using a good punch and a hammer, punch out the two taper pins that secure the FSB to the barrel. I start with a oversized punch, and once the taper pins start moving switch to a punch the same diameter of the pins. Once the pins are out, lube the barrel in front of the FSB, then tap the FSB forward off the barrel. I use the handle of the hammer. The handguard cap should come off. Reverse your steps to reattach. Be sure you work on a solid surface, and that you support the barrel as you drive out the taper pins. |
You could try to dremel it completely off, though the small portion that sits between the FSB and barrel might be difficult or impossible to get to. A new cutting bit might work better. |
