No, not flatulence (although I've been guilty of that sometimes, too) but this is coming from my charging handle.  Since I turned my S&W MP15A into a SBR, it really blows gas back into my face, much more so than when it was in its original configuration.  The only change was to put an 11.5" CMMG barrel on it.  I guess this is a normal result of going to a short barrel, right?  Other than springing for a PRI charging handle at about 90 bucks, are there any other good solutions?

the gas port may be a bit oversized in that barrel.

i have quite a few 11.5" and 10.5" guns, from the shooter's perspective you can't tell you aren't shooting a normal rifle or carbine. there is *one* exception though...

one of my SBR's was built with a complete LMT 10.5" upper, and i'm gonna guess that the gas port is on the very high side of the tolerance if it's not over. every time you shoot that thing, it's like shooting a suppressed AK. you get a blast of exhaust right in your eye every damned time. that gun will remind you if you aren't wearing shooting glasses, that's for sure.

ETA: damn. post 6K.

Hmm, I wondered about that.  I thought though, that CMMG had a really good reputation for drilling their gas ports right on the money.  I suppose this could have been one that fell through the cracks in QC.  That would be just my luck.  Do you think it would do any good to call them on it?
