Has anyone heard anything about production from Colt on AR-15s for anyone besides the military?  I've had an order in for a MT6731 since March 07 and it still hasn't been made.... I'm told they have been filling orders for mil contracts non stop and have not produced anything for LE or anyone else...

Very frustrating

My 6920 was built in May '07, at least that's what is stamped on the barrel.  The military M4/M16s and LE's are built by Colt Defense, not Colt Mfg although I'm sure they build parts for each other.

They aint fillin LE orders, have had an outstanding order for M4 complete uppers and SMG barrels since June of last year.  Projected delivery is in March a full year and some change after the order was received by Colt.

I had to threaten to switch to LMT or 416's and talk to a director just to get a status when they were 6 months late....

Im not recommending that we purchase any more Colts......

Word was passed that law enforcement should not see any production until May of this year at the earliest.  After the last batch of L.E. rifles, Colt had to direct 100% if their production capacity towards the military order(s) on the M4, A4, etc.  Personally, who needs the rifles the most at this current moment?  That said, it doesn't disturb me the we (L.E.) have a wait.  Our Marines and soldiers need the equipment more than we do.

Wow they gave you a projected delivery date?  They won't even do that with me.. they said they quit doing that because they keep having to push the delivery back.  I can understand priorty being given to Military but you would think they could do one production run every 4 months or so to fufill LE orders... but I don't know anything about what changing a production run takes so I may be completely wrong.

A MT6731 is a postban gun and the last one that was made was 3 years ago.

You are better off finding a NIB one on the secondhand market.

I think that since the items are either for overseas agents, or training folks for overseas assignments we can bump everyone but DoD

Unfortunately civilians will have to wait until the Government is satisfied. We have always come in second when it comes to production like it or not.

I called a LE distibutor last week to get a price quote on several Colts for my agency and was told that Colt had AT LEAST a one year back order
