All right guys ive done a ton of research and searching, question is those of you that have a RH Ar that shoot left, do you have any real problems with using it, im aware of the gas and the brass other than that? Im getting rerady to purchase my first AR and im looking into one of CMMG's bargin bin rifles. I cant currently afford a Stag Lefty as much as i would like to buy one. So good rifle for a lefty let alone my first? Thanks for your replies. |

I went through much of the same quandary. Even having the money for a Stag. I opted to go with a normal right handed first, since it was a really good price at a gun show for the upper. My next one will probably be a lefty "just because". I have no problems with gas or brass, like I did when shooting in the service. Used to get brass down the back, in the face, etc. The nice little brass deflector really does it job. Only real concern is the one I have seen others mention, which is a kaboom type incident. My opinion on that is with all the safety crap the military has to do to protect member from themselves and others, they only issue right handed ones. If it were of enough of a safety concern, they would be required to issue lefties. I consider their opinion in this matter very highly due to the number of people issued rifles and using them. Granted many of them probably shoot righty, but I still stick to that opinion. |

I currently own two ARs, got in a bind and had to sell my first one. My first was a RRA that I put together on 9/17/04. I put an ambi safety on it, but was so used to a standard AR that I didnt use the southpaw side of it. My current ARs are righties, and dont have a ambi safeties. The three I'm colleting parts for wont have ambi anything on them either. I thought about getting a LH stag, but then I handled one, and it just felt, weird. Same thing with the LH 870 I looked at. If I every buy a can, I might think about the LH stag a little more, but at the moment, no thanks. They're built on standard lowers with ambi safeties and norgon ambi mag realeases, so the bolt catch, which is probably just out of reach of you trigger finger, and just out of reach of your right index finger (when using the magwell as a VFG, like I'm bad to do). A lot of us wrong-handed folks reccomend the ambi safety, which you can pick up for about $25. |
| I, being LH, have never had any trouble shooting a RH firearm. But when i saw that STAG has LH rifles I could not pass the opportunity. Now it is retraining myself on using a LH rifle. So far I have managed to do everything correctly. You have to change your way of thinking and doing things. All LH people know what I am saying. I am very pleased with the rifle and would purchase another from them when I am in the market. |
