i like my 6 position adjustable for this time of year when im hunting i can shorten it up a notch or 2 to compensate for my heavier/bulkier clothing. they look cool also, possibly the adj are a little lighter im not sure though, but i do also like the traditional look of the fixed a2. whatever floats ur boat i guess

Fixed: Pros- Sturdy, can knock a guys 'block' off in a butt-stroke, and has storage compartment. Cons- A2 is too long, A1 is too weak,

Adjustable: Pros- Can be fitted to different people & thicknesses of clothing, allows adjustment of eye relief of scopes, allows a closer hold for CQB situations, and allows storage of the weapon in a smaller space. Cons- it can rattle (fixable), are not as strong as the A2 for butt-strokes, and if they are too loose can screw with getting a consistent cheek weld.

All the cool kids have telescoping stocks.

Love my fixed and love my tele they both have a place.

Now an "A2 too long" only if you have really short arms.

Kind of depends on your purpose.  For my patrol rifle, I use a 4-pos collapsible to get in and out of my cruiser easier.  For my all around shooting, playing, wood stomping rifle, I use an A1 stock.  Makes it easier to shoot consistently.  I actually like the A1 better, but have to have the collapsible for the confined spaces.  The A2 is waaay too long for me, but then again I'm built weird anyway (5'9" 290lbs 54" chest).

Cons of tele stocks are most stocks have a slight or a lot of movement on the carbine receiver extension and fixed stocks are of course can't be adjusted for length.

I've got both but my favorite is the Magpul CTR stock, it's telescoping but feels like a fixed stock when locked.

The CTR stock has the best features of both stock types.

I can only see myself using an adjustable stock if I knew I was going to use it indoors.

20" or longer barrel = fixed stock
less than 20" barrel = tele stock

Put a piece of velcro tape inside the tube to take up the space.
Some heat the stock and squeeze it to do the same thing.
