I was at a gun show today and one of the vendors had a stripped A3 upper and stated it was factory Colt. He had it marked $200 but told me he has some room on it. I have a Colt rifle and want to build a midlength upper for it and would prefer to stick with the Colt receiver as well as keep the current upper as is. I looked for markings, but am not 100% clear on what markings are correct and such. There is a C on the side of the upper right under the rail on top and then a funny looking symbol to the right of it that looks like an A and an F squeezed together (i think). Can anyone show me the correct pics of the proof markings it should have one it etc and tell me a price? I know I have seen pics before showing what it should look like etc. If it is what he says it is and I can verify it I will go back and make him an offer on it tomorrow as I am going back anyways. Any help? I would look at mine but I am out of state for business and do not have my rifle or anything to compare it to with me. Thanks in advance... Also, as a bonus could you tell me where I could buy such a thing if I do not get the one at the gun show. |

Look on the front of the receiver, does it have an 'M4' at the front of the rail portion? It is most likely a Colt from the markings described. I'd go to S.A.W. for the receiver if I were you, $200 is ridiculous. Link to SAW |

I appreciate the input and the link... however, according to the prices listed on that website the $200 wouldnt be ridiculous because that is how much they are there. He also told me he had some ROOM on the receiver and actually qouted me $180...which I would offer him less than that still. Prolly $150 and see what happens. Any other input? Know where I can look at pics? I did not notice an M4 stamped on it or anything. Also, the t marks on the top were not white or whatever, they were engraved into the rail. Is that accurate for Colt? |
