Which would you take in an emergency, SHTF situation, a factory rifle like say a S&W, RRA, or a Bushy with add on goodies  OR   a your Hand built custom?

The reason I ask is I have a hodge podge custom that was built by another board member that I am very happy with. I am going to sbr the lower which leaves me the upper. which is a CMT m4 upper with 14.5 bushy 1/9 barrel. This shoots great for my limited capability, but I am torn between selling the upper and putting the money towards a factory S&W mp15T or just swapping to the troy rails and sights and buying another lower and building another rifle. Whats your thoughts on these Ideas. Also I run Pmags will the current production M&P 15T's work with them now?

I would have to say the handbuilt.

ETA:But either would be a good choice.

I build them, I trust mine over a factor built anyday. I have found many Barrel nuts torqued to around 15pounds and a manufacture correctly staking the key is the exception

Custom or factory doesn't matter IMO, since both need to be shot/practiced with to make sure they work properly.

Any gun you carry should be tested until you trust it. Doesnt matter what brand/build it is. That is the bottom line.

i'd take the one that WORKS

FWIW: i'd rather build my own w/ the parts i prefer and can afford...YMMV

Guys, Thanks for all of you advice. I learned the hard way this weekend. I attended a department Carbine school in which I was issued a Bushy 14.5 A2( Factory Built). With in the first ten rds the rifle began to malfunction. Found that the Gas tube on the BCG had worked loose. Through out the course I found that this factory rifle did not perform near as well as my custom and my confidence in the rifle deminished. Once the rifle was repaired it functioned well, but I still missed my custom baby. Thanks again for the direction. I can alway count on good advice for m you guys.
