I broke a bolt and replaced it today with one from a gunshow,  It is stamped CM,  the broke one has no stamped letters but it has inked letters MPN faded but readable.  Anyone know who made them?

I would hazard a gues that CM stands for Continental Machine, the parent outfit of Stag, and contractor to a number of other outfiits.

Inked on markings on the other?  Never seen nor heard of such.  Sounds like someone was prying to impress a buyer with the markings.  MP, stamped on, are associated with a bolt being Magnafluxed and Proofed. Don't know what N is supposed to mean.  If it was a Colt bolt it'd be marked "C", and if an FN piece it'd be marked "F"; but they'd be stamped in.

Thanks for the response,  I did find Here that the MPN marked in paint is Bushmaster.  And it now looks like this:

Which is precisely why I use only Colt bolts (I do have one FN as a spare).

Not that no Colt bolt ever broke. when it happens, though, it's almost always after 10,000+ rounds, and a lot of full auto fire from an M16
