ok, so i have decided to jump on the bandwagon and put out the extra bit of money for a colt. i want a 16ish inch barrel, a collapsible stock. this will be my first AR and i was wondering 1. what model colt should i look for, with the above options? 2. how do i get one? is it all at local gunshops or can i order them through a FFL directly through colt? kind of confused 3. if i want to put a light on it, and or a optic, what kind of rail do i need? |

If you cannot find an AR locally you like you can order one from one of the on line dealers here in the industry section of AR15.com or thru places like www.specializedarmament.com/ To order on that way you would have to pay for the rifle and have a local dealer to you send a copy of their FFL to the dealer you are buying it from. They will then ship the rifle to your local dealer and then your dealer can do the transfer to you. This would require you to ask around your local gunshops to see if they will do a transfer for you from another dealer and find out how much they will charge for the transfer. As far as adding a rail system in place of the handguards there are many options available to you there as well. Once again look thru the picture threads and if you see one you have interest in ask a question about it. There are too many manufacturers to list. The following pictures are the same rifle just with the handguards replaced with a Knights Armament M5 RAS. The rails on the RAS allow you to mount flashlights, lasers, sling loops etc.... ![]()
