A quick look at one of my references indicates that for a chamber presser of 45000 psi, the gas port entry pressure is 15000 psi, and the bolt chamber pressure is 2000 psi. The static pressure in the gas tube would be somewhere between 15K psi and 2K psi. The reference is Black Rifle. I'm not sure I'm reading the data correctly, and the numbers are rounded off. Measuring this would require more instrumentation than most non-specialized ballistics labs are likely to have. The event only lasts a few milliseconds. |
