I just bought my first AR-15; it's a Sabre Defense (XR-15) I paid $1250 for the gun. It is equipped with Beamshot 5000S, BSA Red Dot top sight and TLR-1 light. The gun has been fired before but appears to have been taken good care of other than missing one lens cap for the top sight. I also read some of the posts here about firing .223 in a gun chambered for 5.56. For now I bought some .223 to get me started out. Don't know if it would be worth buying NATO rounds? Obviously I am new to AR-15s. I have wanted one of these guns for as long as I can remember and will turn 52 next week so it's a gift to myself. Last year I sold a MAC 10 (.45) that I could kick myself for. Not that the MAC is nearly as good as the AR-15 but one can never have too many guns. Also sold an AR-7, M1 Carbine and a Mossberg Model 500 Persuader. Now I wish that I had them all back. |

Thanks paddle3 Yes there is a lot of information here, almost too much here to digest. At first I didn’t know if I should have bought a Colt or not. I guess I always thought it was the standard to go by. I see that you are from Michigan, my girlfriend and I moved from there just over a year ago. Tennessee is a great place I do miss some of my buddies there though. |
| That Sabre Defense is a nice AR, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Better start buying that ammo, it's not getting any cheaper you know. I just bought a 1000 rds. of '07 PRVI 5.56 for $335 shipped, which is as good a deal I could find. Walmart has the Remington/UMC .223 for $6.50/bx. sometimes in stock. Where in TN are you? I'm just south of Memphis. |
