Does anyone else have a 6922 (a 6920, but with 1/9 twist)? Any production data available?

a pretty rare bird, gsc

It came out after 1994 and probably was produced in numbers measured in hundreds rather than thousands - based on anectdotal information from Colt enthusiasts here

A couple of references to the 6922:

In an ARES  piston conversion with photos

an upper that was for sale

an intersting comment was made:

It featured a SAFE and SEMI versus SAFE and FIRE selector markings as most all other LE rifles.

Check the barrel under the handguards for a production month/year

were you able to find the link reference to SAFE/SEMI ?

I hadn't seen one, and took his remark to mean that was representative of the 6922. Perhaps that is representative of all LE rifles before a certain date.

It seems a preferred marking by purists.

On the unusual models note: Black Rifle II, lists other models like the 6320 as a special order rifle designed and ordered by Ken Elmore at Specialized Armament. I do not believe the 6922 was this type, but not impossible. He is the man who first offered the 6920HB. (in addition to the 6320)

sorry for the slow reply, gsc

while searching for information using "Colt 6922", Google found several references on my computer - one that had the SAFE-SEMI reference.

It is not definitive, as your's doesn't have it, but here is the remark that I referenced-------> comment on HkPro by a 6922 owner at the bottom of the page

Just to follow up on some of the threads I've read on the Colt 6922's..

Someone posted the barrels were cut down HBAR barrels...not sure about that, as my barrel doesn't have any indication that is the case...appears to be a factory M4 barrel..just in 1/9..

Someone also mentioned they thought the 6922 barrels were not chrome plated in the bore...not sure, but the rifle I have has a chrome bore from what I can tell..

The upper is definitly a M4 upper (feed ramps, M4 marking on "nose" of receiver, etc.) and appears original to the lower...

Anyone else have a 1/9 Colt 6920 (6922)?
