Picked up an A1 carbine with a PWA 5 digit lower today for what I think was a very good price. Anybody know what these babies go for in today's market ?

Thanks,

Mike

Just to be clear, the lower is an A1 configuration?

If so, you would be better off asking the question in the retro forum. if it is an A1 I'd figure between $300-$400.

Several of the really low  5 digit seral number units I have are of the older AR configuration without the buffer tube ring reinforcements or the increased front lug radius.  They may be worth slightly less.

Tell that to the retro builders who cream for a A1 lower

Yeah, I agree.  I don't see how that would make it less valuable.

The guy in this thread has a pic of an A1 PWA lower:

I believe I am safe saying that all PWA lowers, regardless of vintage have the full mag release fence.  My oldest was made in 1989 with S/N 5XXX and has the non-reinforced ring, and smaller pivot tabs.

If that PWA lower is pre-ban (serial below 35222), the lower is worth around $450 stripped in a ban state such as NY or CT. If you are a generous guy, you can trade for two new stripped lowers of your choice in the NY lower trade thread.

Yes it is under 35222 and sorry but I will not be selling this, especially thru this board lest I suffer the wrath of the retro forum

Ya I see that

Ask for a little info and get slapped around.
Oh well, like I said before it got locked

[arnold] I WON'T be back [/arnold]

Internally this little carbine is very clean, doesn't look to have been shot much at all.
The receiver extension seems to be the same 5 pos. mil spec like I got from DSA or is it DSG I can't remember now. The CAR body is a commercial size and flops around bad.
That will be replaced with a VLTOR I have on the way. Have an A1 grip on the way also for it. Hate the spike on the A2. For now I've swapped it out with an A2 that I've ground the spike off of. The handguards were unlined, I've swapped those out for a set with single linings.

Maybe a front tritium sight and I'll call it good, should be a great carbine for the truck.
I know the ban state guys don't want to hear that. But I don't tend to sell my weapons, and if I do, it won't be here on arfcom.

Mike

it doesn't matter the serial number, the question???  Was it registered on a 4473(excise tax) as a rifle or AR pistol before the AWB date, if not it's just another lower.

So you called someone a "forum nazi" but the moderators locked the thread for something you did?

I guess that's something to brag about.

Did you read the thread ?
And no, I'm not bragging.

Did I intentionally make my post to break the Retro CoC.....No
First reply to my post was a hot link to the CoC instead of a friendly reminder that this type of post is frowned upon in this forum. When I tried to explain myself all I got was ya sure, you're fishing, ect.

I read the entire thread.  He asked a question and was referred to the CoC of the Retro forum which appears to be more strict than the rest of the Forums.

He had the opportunity to change his thread to conform to the CoC.

The moderators felt the thread was still in violation and locked his thread.

I don't think the lock was because of the link to the Code of Conduct or the way he thinks he was treated.

Not true for CT and NY it did not have to be a complete rifle only a lower manufactured before the ban.

OK guys, let's give it a rest
I'm fine with it, if that's the way they want to run that sub-forum then so be it.

Once again I'll state that I had no intentions of doing any harm, all I wanted was some info.

Given that we are such a unruly mob, maybe it would be best just to delete the whole forum.
You were the one that  brought up deleting the forum.
