Kinda spendy for a put together A2....... |
+1 I've got two that that run well. However, I have noticed that the fit of lower parts (especially the rear take-down pin detente and the pistol grip) to the lower aren't always that great. By this, I mean that the lowers themselves seem sufficiently out-of-spec that some problems arise with fit or function. |

Welcome to arf.com That I know, PWA only made lowers. The rest of the gun is anybody's guess; all depends on who assembled it and with what parts. The upper may have forging marks to indicate who forged it, and the barrel might have manufacturing markings too. The bolt and carrier might also have markings. In the pic, the lower receiver appears to be an A2, not what all the "retro" guys are looking for, but still valuable. If you could determine the brand of parts, you might be better off. Without that, $750 does seem a bit high for a "parts gun." Gotta remember, ARs are a drug on the market right now; you can get bran spankin new ones of relatively high quality and a manufacturer to stand behind it for about that price. Make sure you get around to the Oregon Hometown Forum too. Bunch of good guys there... errrrr some of em anyway. |

Well if its a pre-ban and you live in a state that kept the ban going after the sunset, thats a bargain..... Some of you guys obviously got into ARs after the 2004 sunset. In 2002 I paid that much for a PWA complete lower just to have the features you guys now take for granted. IMHO PWAs beat the shit out of Stag. Buy the rifle an sell the lower for $450 stripped $500 complete to somebody in NY or CT and keep the rest for spare parts. |
+1 I just sold mine and am buying two stripped RRA lowers and a Magpul stock with the $$$! |

there is only one "ball bearing" in an A2 rear sight. the "cant" is normal. they were designed that way to keep the zero from wandering. if you want it straight you need to get it modified like a National Match rear sight the rides up and down on pins. another way that i have heard of is kinda like you mentioned at first. you need to drill a whole on the opposite side of the ball that is already there and put in a spring and bearing. however, if you don't get the tension equal it will still be crooked. advntrjnky |
