I don't want to change out the entire firing assembly for another unit, a la RRA/WOA 2 stage etc, but am looking to lighten up the pull weight on my Lady's AR. I CANNOT compromise reliability. I also do not want to cut any part of the spring like for the 5 minute trigger job, that just does not give me confidence. I am thinking of the JP yellow springs? Thoughts? |

I’m going to be installing an upgraded trigger soon in my SAM-R clone, probably a RRA unit. But until then this is what I did: - Disassembled the FCG. - Using a q-tip, brasso and a drill, I polished the trigger and hammer pin holes. Nothing excessive, just a quick 60 seconds with the drill to clean things up. ETA: The pin holes in the hammer and trigger themselves, NOT IN THE RECEIVER! - Chucked the trigger and hammer pins in the drill and polished them for 60 seconds. - Reassembled the FCG using Tetra grease on the pins. |

Pull the hammer and trigger, lightly stone the engagement surfaces(the key here is LIGHT). Polish with a firm Dremel polishing wheel using Flitz or JB's bore paste. BTW, I have 1000+ rounds with the 15 minute trigger job. No reliability issues. Made the stock Stag trigger very nice. ZM |
The pin holes IN the hammer and trigger themselves, meaning, not the receiver holes? |
Yes, the pin holes in the hammer and trigger themselves, NOT IN THE RECEIVER! ETA: I even went as far as to stay away from the ends of the pin that ride in the lower receiver. Again, this was just a quick 60 seconds. The polishing did not even remove the park from the pins or the trigger and hammer pin holes. If the brasso did anything at all it might have just smoothed out the park some. I think the application of grease on the pins probably did more than the brasso. I also put a small dab of Tetra grease on the disc tip. |
Can you provide more details, as in exactly what type of stone and what surfaces etc? Thanks |
They should. I’ve had mine for years so I do not remember where I purchased it from. Some places to check at Wally World would be the house cleaning isle or automotive cleaning isle. You might want to try grease alone first if you use my method posted above. Like I said, I’m not exactly sure if the Brasso significantly improved anything. I just thought I’d give it a try. |

The above techniques help, but there is still the long creep and excessive pull weight. There is much more that can obtained from the stock trigger If your interested I can set you up with a 4lbs pull with a clean break, all creep is eliminated for $32. Very reliable, I have references all over this board. Thanks, Bill Springfield [email protected] |
What area of the state are you in? I might be interested. |

I'm in N.E. Co Springs, you could drop it off and 20 min later your on your way with a completed unit. Other wise by mail works fine too, only the trigger group is needed. I have receiver jigs for large and small pin variations. A 3lbs option is available for $46, this includes a match spring set, I also bob the hammer tail to lighten it up ~25% for reliable primer ignition. Thanks, Bill |
Thanks. I'll keep you in mind! |

JP Springs also has a Tactical set that gives a 4lb release and supposedly does not affect primer ignition. It looks a like yellow trigger spring with a different hammer spring. I'm running the yellow set except with the hammer spring. I used the stock one. It is a tad bit heavier than the entire yellow set but I'm not experiencing any ignition problems. |
