I purchased a Mega lower a few months ago and I was just recently able to afford the lower parts.

Mega Lower
RRA parts Kit
Full Magpul MIAD grip kit
Magpul CTR kit
Magput CTR rubber but plate

I am pleased with the look and feel thus far.  I am going to install a 10.5" upper but I haven't decided on what I wanted yet.  I'm deciding between...

-LMT 10.5" upper, Larue 9.0 or 10.0 handguard, LMT bolt carrier assembly, Larue gas block

-or-

-Novekse 10.5 CQB complete upper with Vltor VIS.

The prices of both options are similar to one another.  The only upside to going with LMT that I can see is I can pace my purchases.  I can buy the upper now and shoot with the installed front sight, and then later put Larue rails on which will necessitate a low profile gas block.  I also believe the Vltor VIS is billet and I didn't know how it would look sitting on my Mega forged lower.

Any thoughts and ideas are welcome!  Thanks for all of the support so far!

There is no trigger installed b/c the RRA parts kit had an out of spec pin.   One pin was too large for the holes.  New pins on the way!

You going to get a mega upper to go with it?  If you find one post a link.

No, I don't think I will.  My upper will be a complete upper from either LMT or Noveske.  I did look around a bit though and most places are sold out right now.

I'm still curious what you guys think...  The LMT upper or the Vltor VIS/Noveske?

I went with the Noveske 10.5 with VLTOR VIS... it is awesome... no regrets.

Yeah, the VIS is nice.  The Novekse CQB has a VIS option that I'm interested in.

Yeah, I guess we're "fortunate".  I'm originally from the Chicago area so I understand your pain.

Has there been a Mega pic thread ever started on this site before? If not we should get one going.

i love my mega lowers, but they don't engrave well (they tend to "chip"), which is something you are going to have to deal with being an SBR.

So I'm curious, how well does that suppress?  YHM I presume?  How well does it balance?

Yes you did!!!

That's the tan cousin of mine.  I'm glad you posted that b/c I'm curious as to what suppressors will work on a LMT 10.5.  YHM will judging from your pic, but what about Gemtech or AAC??  The last piece to this SBR puzzle will be a suppressor!

And there was a Mega thread started a while back...   I tagged it I think... (edited: I can't find it...I thought there was one though)

All the normal non over the barrel design suppressors from all the manufacturers will work with a 10.5" barrel.

Get the 10.5" LMT, I've got a hankerin' for one of those myself.

NICE!!!  I was originally thinking about taking the front sight post off and putting on a low profile gas block, 9" rails, and flip up sights, but those standard irons are mean on a fighting rifle.  I'm re-thinking it...  Thanks for the pics.

Supresses great for the price. To me it sounds like a 22lr with the can.

It is a YHM Phantom QD

Balance is great. By far my favorite AR

All the good companies stuff will work on a 10.5 It is really a question of price on the can. For me the YHM was the perfect compromise of price and suppression.

Yes i have the not so evil tan twin

Hell yeah!  I'll worry about the suppressor later...  First, must purchase the upper.  Thanks for the pics and ideas guys.  I'll keep ya posted!
