After 100 rounds I noticed flaking of the internal gray coating on the upper receiver of my Patrolman. Bushmaster told me it was the lubricant coating wearing off which they said should not be ocurring at 100 rounds. They told me to ship it back. How long should this coating last and what are the risks as long as I keep it properly lubed? Thanks |

in my BM upper the coating lasted a while, it rubbed off completely after about 500 rounds where the rails on the carrer touch the upper. When I cleaned it with non-clorinated brake cleaner for the first time the rest of it came out. it did not harm the upper to have or not have it. now my upper has over 20k fired through it and it is still going strong. when you get it back, or if you don't send it - just keep the rails on the carrier well lubed and you should not have issues |
| I am leaning toward not sending it if normal lubrication is all that is needed. I used Break Free Powder Blast during the last cleaning so maybe that helped remove it. It is not completely gone but is missing in ramdom areas throughout the receiver. I am surprised that BM suggested sending it in if this stuff comes off anyway. |
At nearly twice the price you can buy other brand upper recievers for, They've got to do something to make their pieces buyable. Haven't compared the barrelled pieces to the rest of the market lately, but when I can buy a quality flat top upper for $85-$100 from any number of sources, why the hell would anyone pay Bushie $182.95? For a dry lube coating? Not me
