What is you're guy's take on the recoil compensators? I would love to cut down on the recoil of my AR a bit and I guess I'm wondering if these actually work and what the draw backs to them are.

I'm currently looking at the AK Concepts compensator and the Primary Weapons flash supressor/compensator available from aimsurplus.com, since I've been very happy with their service and products so far.

Any advice is appreciated,
Thanks!
Jeff

(edit: I did post this earlier in the accessories section and I thought I'd get a better volume of responses from here =/)

I dont think the AR has that much recoil in the first place but if you do get a decent compensator you will probably have almost zero recoil at all. I have wanted to try the JP Tactical or the Bennie Coolie myself. As for drawbacks, I think they might make the rifle a bit louder.

On my three gun rifle I went with the JP/BC Tact Comp and it works great.

imo, if you are opting for brake/comp (non-suppressor)...then get a good one

the ben cooley is the best i've seen/used; the mikullek and MSTN QC would follow
other good ones i hear: JP tank, Titan, etc

try a search ("comp" "brake"), lots of opinions on em

Rolling Thunder is a verry effective brake as well.  I run a JP BC on a 6721. the BC adds bark, but the carbine moves verry verry little.

What are you using it for?

My HBAR with suppressor has almost no recoil, but I wouldn't want to have to do too much running and gunning with it.

Then again I have never really considered a 5.56m AR a heavy recoil weapon.

the JP/Ben Cooley compensator is very good.
I have also been happy with the DNTC comp from PWS

I'm very happy with the AK Concepts comp. Not only does it do a good job with muzzle rise, it also looks very "tactical" rather than the "sporty" look of some of the others.

Of course, there are other very good comps but here in NY we have to use a non-flash-hiding comp, so I chose the AKC.

Is this the SUREFIRE BRAKE ??

Reduce recoil by 50%

If it is TRUE then I would buy one myself for my M4 14.5

it is the Primary Weapons Suppressor/Compensator. I'm gonna guess and say that it is not the Surefire one.
