Anyone know what type of plastric is used in the making of Ar parts...like the magpul magazines or pistol grips?? I know its some sort of polymer...but wich one?? I guess i need the industry name of the plastic for a project i am working on. |

Different polymers/plastics are used in different parts. And in many cases the same parts are made from different polymers/plastics depending on who makes them [eta] and when they were made, e.g. handguards and buttstocks. In many cases this information is proprietary. You're going to have to be more specific if you want an accurate answer. edited as noted |

You can look in and out of the materials and trade names on the Matweb.com. Researching through the different areas and Googleling you should find what your looking for. MATWEB.com |
George...did you study plastics engineering at UW Stout by any chance... Wonder what kind of data base the dept has available for his purposes... Reason I ask is I have a nephew up there...Plastics and ROTC |
|
LOL. No engineer. I just read a lot. I was a Liberal Arts guy at the UofM, Mpls (where I did my ROTC). Fortunately, my daughter (who, thankfully, is smarter than me) is pursuing a curriculum in the hard sciences at Iowa State. I've always wanted to ask: Were you in the 9th ID? Both my wife and I spent time in the division in the 80s. |
