Having never used CMMG parts, I have a question. I have a chance to "stock up" on some lower receivers. I can get Stag lowers for $100 or I can get CMMG lowers for $115. What would you do? I also have the opportunity to buy Eagle Arms AR-10 lowers for $160. Opinions welcomed! |
Personally, I agree with M4builder: They'll both net you about the same amount if the scenario you described comes to pass. I think they are both good mfr's. Like you, I now own three lowers, two Colt (the wonderful Sporter series with no sear block) and one Bushmaster. If the Beast herself takes the WH, then I will probably buy three more. May God help us all |
+1
+1, CMMG's rollmark is way better than Stag's IMO. |
A lower is a lower unless you're a Colt cronie. Most of them are forged by a few select foundries & finished by ___________. Unless it has some type of unique feature I don't care where it comes from as long as it's forged & my parts will fit into it. That's me & YMMV. CMMG is one of the better companies these days, but's it hard to say what it will bring you later if you decide to sell. Buy a lower & use it. |
That's pretty much the way I am. I was just curious about CMMG specifically. I think Stag is definitely a better-known company, so I'll probably get the Stags. I'm pretty neutral on the stag roll mark....looks a little "toyish" maybe, but I really could care less what roll mark is on it. I might be all wet, but I can see Billary in the WH, a new AWB, and "pre-ban" lowers fetching a premium. At the very least, I can't see any scenario where having a half-dozen preban Stag lowers kicking around is a bad thing. |
