Hi,
I purchased a bushmaster 16" A3 in March - my first AR - and, in the process of working out a handload for it, am noticing that it leaves long scratches on ejected cases.
I noticed this while trying out dummy rounds (no powder/no primer) to check feeding. The gun leaves scratches on the bullet (Hornady 55-gr SP) and running down the length of the brass. It's deep enough to be noticed.
I'm wondering how much of a problem this is and how I can correct it.
Thanks!

ahhh.... veddy inderesting... hadn't thought of that...
it's the brand new mag that came with the gun... will that eventually smooth over with use?

The full length scratches probably are from the mag, but a recent Bushie barrel I got was putting short, deep scrathes on the neck of ejected cases.  finally figured out that the right side of the case neck was being pushed against the edges of two of the locking surfaces on the bolt extension during extraction/ejection.

Took a round pencil, wrapped a piece of 600 grit paper around it, and lightly rubbed against the offending edges. Scratches much reduced in appearance, and I would expect that further use will totally eliminate the problem.

This wouldn't be a problem for nonreloaders, but I fear it could become an issue for people like me who reload their cases 3-5 times.
