| What is the length of a fully extended CAR stock versus the length of a standard A2 stock? |
New genuine A1 stocks are exceptionally hard to find these days. Your best bet is to check the EE listings for A1 stocks, plus check out the Retro section for listings of vendors who sell surplus ones. Cav Arms makes an A1 length stock, but the sling swivel is diff't, so many retro folks don't like it. |
On the EE you might find the Colt CS stock (I think that is thier designation). I've been happy with the C1 stocks from Cav-Arms - though as noted above the buttplate and sling swivel are 'different', you can however buy a new A2 buttplate and sling swivel from Fulton-Armory and have a kick-@ss stock (that is what I did). I'd also note one of the vendors in the EE indicated they were comming out with a new A1 stocks and handguards soon.
7.0 inches. (it's too short for most folks even using a squared off stance - however if you have bulky body armor it's great a squared off stance). If you want a 'short fixed' stock your best option is the Sully (at about 8.25" long it also comes with a 1" extension for taller folks.). |
