Ok, I'm thinking of getting an AR15. I think I want the collapsible stock and removable handle and 16 inch barrel. What is the benefit of the 14.5 inch barrel if that is recommended over the 16 inch barrel? If I'm buying a new complete rifle, what should I expect to pay and which brand would be recommended for my first AR15? This has probably been asked before, but the search feature wasn't very helpful. Thanks, Scott |

Here's what I would recommend for a very good first AR. I know, opinions are like a-holes, everybody has one. RRA CAR Elite A4. Midlength gas system. The midlength gas system is smoother than a carbine gas system. Chrome lined barrel. Not a necessity, but aides in cleaning and longjevity of barrel. Flat top. IMO a flattop is a great feature to have, especially since it would be your first AR. The flattop gives you the versatility to mount optics, or if you want, iron sights. The 2 stage triggers on the RRA rifles are nice. It does have a collapsable stock. The fit and finish on RRA products is top notch too. I really do not think you would be disappointed with this rifle as your first AR. |

Stick with ABCs, you'll be ok. Armalite Bushmaster Colt RRA, LMT, BCM, all have great products too. Don't get a Vulcan or Olympic. The rest is just getting the M4 barrel, A4 upper, and collapsible stock you want. Expect to pay $1000- a little over or under is about the going rate. |
