Hey all, Will a DNTC brake bring a 14 ½ barrel to the legal length, I want to permanently attach one to my 14 ½ inch barrel but I’m not sure on the DNTC length as opposed to the phantom flash hider. Thanks in advance. B_W |

I have mine mounted so I can't measure for you, but it is longer than an A2 by at least 0.25". Suggest you email Todd at AKconcepts and ask. It's a great comp, I love 'em. Definitely keeps the muzzle down and lightens recoil a tad. The only downside on a full auto 10.5" is you get some powder burns on your left forearm (if you are a righty). Which is pretty cool or you can wear a long sleeve shirt. On my M4 upper and full auto, it's fine. Oh, and it is no flash suppressor - on full auto you get a huge freakin' fireball |
the powder burns are OK? ![]() yes - depending on ammo, it can really throw some heat out on the 10.5" - which is why I prefer the 11.5" (that and I find the 11.5 just runs better - but that is another topic.) Anyway - back to the question. The DNTC comp is 1.95" in length. Measure your barrel to see if it is exactly 14.5". One of them that we have in the shop is actually 14.75" so in this instance it will give you the 16.1" needed. If it is a true 14.5", you might look at the aggressive version of the comp that Rainier Arms sells, as it is 2.10" OAL and would easily give you the required length. Hope this helps. Todd |
I see hundreds of barrels a year through my shop and I have well over 100 drawings with very specific dimensions. MOST factory 16" barrels run from 0.1" to 0.25" longer, but the 14.5" barrels and 20" barrels are usually right on-spec. |
