I would like to purchase another vortex flash suppressor identical to the one in the photos.  This was purchased as part of a barrel from Bushmaster approx. 8 years ago.  The only marking on it is a small "v".  Does anyone know who makes these or where I can find this particular f.s.

Smith Industries sells some similar ones but not this exact one.  This one has a large grove around the prongs on the end.  Is this an old smith ind. f.s. that they no longer make?

Someone once told me that these old Smith hiders had the front groove for the attachment of some kind of ring or washer to prevent the prongs from snagging on things.  I wonder why they got rid of this groove?

I'm new to AR's but I believe it was to keep branches and shit from getting caught in there.

Damn - I have one in the parts bin.  It's even older though as it doesn't have a spiral to it. The prongs are straight out. The new ones don't use any type of crush washer or peel washer. These older models were designed to be used with washers, I think.

maybe I'll take it to the antiques road show and see if being pre-ban makes it worth a wicked lot. w00t!

....because they have supper secret coating on the tip that makes it break glass as easily as the carbide tipped ones.......if they build it, they will buy it.
