Hey guys.  I got a new DPMS chambered in Ruger .204.  I immediately replaced the A2 stock with a Magpul PRS stock.  But now when I shoot the spring sounds really weird.  Any ideas what I may have done wrong?

The "Sproing" is normal in many collapsible stock setups.  If there is some magical way of avoiding it, I haven't seen it posted anywhere.

Awaiting the imminent "Duh, do this _____" post

ETA:  I've had the "sproing" in A2 stocks too.

Thanks for the response.  The spring sounds really sick!

If it is driving you crazy you can use a light gun oil like, Remoil or Hoppies gun oil. Preferably something in a bottle with a small tip. Remove the buffer and spring and run a light ring of oil around the buffer and alow it to run away from the action for about a minuet. Letting the lower (upper off at this point) sit on the buttstock. Reassemble and cycle a coulple of times by hand notice the sprang sound is gone.

Be aware that if you live in dirty, dusty conditions that you will have a buld up of gunk in the buffer tube and will require cleaning.

I run this on my issue M4 and my Match AR-15 with no ill effects.

Replace the spring with a Tubb flat coil spring.  That way you don't have to mess with lubing the spring.

Another option is to replace the buffer with a hydraulic one and the noise will be diminished a bit.
