I've tried searching the archive and paging through many pages of pic threads and I can't seem to find the pic I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a pic that was posted here about a year or so ago.  Two pics actually.  There was a young man who returned from Iraq and was building a clone of the M4 he carried there.  He posted a pic of his build with a pic of the M4 he was issued below it.

His clone had a CMMG 14.7" upper, a Midwest Industries MCTAR hanguard and a Surefire M951XM07 light and Aimpoint among other options.

Are you the original poster?  Or does anyone have a copy of these pics?

Thanks

Pretty sure I'm the one you're talking about. I built my M4gery based on the M4 I carried in Baghdad from March 04 - March 05. Here's the pics:

You didnt have a PEQ 2?  What ya use at night?  I had...HAVE, actually...the same setup only I have a MARS sight.  Not needing the PEQ 2 saves alot of weight.

How did that Randall 14 stand up? I've used one of those for years, my favorite knife.

Definitely some connoisseurs of fine cutlery.  I love my Randall Model 14! Oh...and a nice M4gery as well!

No PEQ 2... most of the guys in my unit who had them ended up taking them off pretty early on. We were in the middle of Baghdad all year and really didn't have much use for them, as we saw it anyway... YMMV.

The Randall held up great! I carried it for my year over there and set it aside when I got home as a keepsake. Really a quality knife though. There were a handful of us in my unit that ordered them and only had to wait about 6 weeks from order to delivery instead of the usual loooooong wait for Randalls. Not sure if Randall is still doing it but at the time they were bumping .mil orders to the front of the line.

Hey AJBello, what BUIS is that and how good is it? I'm thinking about building an M4 clone for historical reasons and wanted to get a little info.

Wow that was fast!  Yes those are the pics I was looking for.  Thanks!

Yours is one of the most "authentic" reproductions I've seen, I'm putting together one very similar (hope you don't mind I'm using yours as inspiration).

Thanks again for the response - Cheers

The BUIS on my M4gery is a GGG A2. I was initially issued a matech BUIS but it broke, as did many of the matechs that were issued to my unit. They failed to stay in the down position after a couple months... and it wasn't just a few of them. We were issued the GGG A2s as replacements while we were in country and I never had a single problem with it. I never really cared for the matech, and still dont. I don't like how easily it springs up from the down position and I don't see the need for the yardage adjustments... as always, YMMV.

If you're going for purely historical accuracy... then the matech is/was the most widely issued *I think*. Others have been issued as well, so it's up to you I guess.

ETA - that picture of my issue M4 was early in the deployment, so the matech is pictured.
