I have two complete builds using primarily DPMS parts (upper, lower, lpk and barrel) that have worked perfectly.  My 3 gun rifle has digested around 7000 rounds of 69 gr ammo and countless amounts of ball, and it still runs like a top and shoots MOA or better.  I have two other rifles built on DPMS upper/lower/LPK that run fine.  The folks and products coming out of DPMS are good  to go.

The LPK I had from them worked great.

I don't think DPMS Parts, in general, are inferior at all.

I just ordered my second DPMS lower from Del-Ton (they have them in stock now) and have had no problems with the first one I bought from them. In fact, they have the best looking finish when compared to my other lowers.

Yeah, a lot of people gripe about their quality, but I've had absolutely no complaints about them. Everyone says their not mil-spec, but they take the same parts and function just as well, so the supposed "mil-spec" don't make a hill of beans.
