| hey guys, i want to replace the buttstock on my bushy carbine. right now, it is the m4a3 style w/izzy brake in post ban configuration so the collapsible stock is actually fixed. i want to replace it with an a2 style stock. would i need the m4 stock tool to replace it? is it relatively a simple swap? im assuming i need a new buffer, tube, and spring correct? please help out a noob. thanks. |
| Yes you will need a rifle buffer tube, spring and buffer. You will also need a tool to remove the castle nut on the fixed m4 style stock, unless the nut is only hand tight, which I doubt it is. Once you have the stock off just put your new rifle buffer tube on there and put the spring and plunger in the tube, slap on your a2 stock and your done. When you remove the m4 stock make sure you don't lose your buffer retainer. |
| Unless you are tall and have long arms you might want to check out an A-1 stock, they are 5/8" shorter than an A-2 and feel much better than the A-2 to most people. A-1's nd A-2's use the same buffer tube but the A-2 uses a spacer and longer screw to make up the 5/8" differnce. If you go with an A-1 make sure to use the shorter screw. |
A1s are good, Sullys are better if you do alot of shooting on the move type of stuff (3-gun & defensive shooting/classes). |
