| How good is the DPMS chrome BCG? I can grab one for $130. How does it compare to JP Enterprises tactical carrier? I'm wanting to add an additional BCG & want it in chrome, but I've never used them. Any advantages over the standard phosphate offering? Thanks. |
| I got one last year. Tight as a drum. Caused a lot of short strokes until it finally broke in after 400 rounds. If your is "snug", add the cost of breaking it in to your final cost. Mine works fine now. I just cycled 100 rounds of Wolf Military Classic through my A1 upper without any problems. I got the chrome BCG to make that particular rifle more retro looking. No issues with it other than the cost of breaking it in. |
I believe that the JP carrier only comes with a teflon black type coating now, in fact i just ordered one, and called Brownells first to see if they had the new one in stock, even though they show the polished stainless on their web page...I even saw one on Talon arms website that says the only ones they have are black, also from what i hear the black ones feel like they are on roller bearings in the upper...Tom |

The DPMS chromed piece I had, for about 4 weeks, was the worst looking POS carrier I've ever seen. Full of gouges and tool marks. The one time I had it out it worked OK, but I couldn't stand to look at it. Others have posted similar comments about the ones they had. Now having said that, I've noticed the the finish on recent DPMS lowers has improved significantly in recent months, so I guess it's posiible that their overall product quality is up on other items as well. If you can find a local supplier who has items you can see uip front, the carriers might be worth checking out. |
