I've asked this question in a more concentrated form: A vs. B, A vs. C, B vs. C, etc. It would take considerable time to cover every permutation, so I'll put it all "out there".

Is there ONE lower which has a feature(QC is a feature) which places it above all the rest, Colt included? I do not care how obscure the manufacturer, availability, or price, as value is a relative thing.

Yes there is.
There is no other lower like this.
Whether it is a set of features that you desire, is up to you.
It is compatible with normal AR15 parts and upper receivers, but would require the special upper for max benefit.

I think that for std. lowers they are fairly all the same. As long as they are forged or billet. The MGI is in a whole other leage. Cant want to get one. Its going to make the AR type rifle one off, if not the most versital rifles out there. For high quality lowers (std) I would go With CMMG,LMT, Bushmaster, Stag, DPMS or RRA.

Function wise my LMT, Bushmaster, and RRA work just like my Double star.  The finish is a little better on the bigger companies.  If money is an issue go with an off brand.

I have an Advanced Armaments Inc lower (company no longer in business) and I like it because the entire lower is one piece of aluminum.  The trigger guard is integral to the frame, I saw another one for sale here as well, it was another brand but was also one piece and was beefier than a standard receiver.  The finish was excellent as well.

Other than those, and the MGI (which I'm still waiting to hear when the 308 kit will be out) I think most lowers are pretty much the same and I just grab whatever is cheapest at the time.

Money is not a consideration as far as this discussion, or for the most part, my ultimate choice for a stash of lowers. Is POF the only single billet machined lower?

No question about it... The DPMS stainless steel lower is/was the strongest/best lower out there. No longer in production............

I think sundivel lowers are also billet. Very well made lowers.

For myself the ultimate A2 lower would be the super rare Colt with small pivot pins, small FCG pins, mag release fence and no sear block.

There are only a very few of them that escaped the factory by mistake and I've only seen a couple of pictures of them here in this same website.

I have an Anvil Arms, a DPMS, and a Colt lower. The AA and Colt are the nicest. I would suggest going with a $100 lower from AA as my Colt is an SP1.

the one with the third position for the selector.

Easy.

The penultimate feature is the little hole in the lower for the auto sear.

Colt M16A2 would have to be my favorite A2 lower.
