Okay, let's have it...

In your opinion, what is the best NIGHT TIME scope setup?

I'm wanting to do some night time varmint hunting, and am wondering what a good set up would be to mount on my AR.  Any advice or suggestions?

The D-760

760 looks sweet, I have no experience with it.

I'd pick pvs-14s and a leupold scope with a 40 or 50mm objective.

Sooooooo, looking at about $4,000 for a good night scope ???

That about right ??

Yeah, see that's the thing...I didn't want to have to sell a kidney to have enough money to buy a sufficient night scope set up.  Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to be into at least the $2K range.  Is that about right?

AN/PEQ-2 + AN/PVS-7B

But then, I didn't have to pay for it

The ELCAN thermal night vision scope could be mounted on an AR, but I believe it's priced around $14,000.

SWFA used to carry them, but I'm not sure he still offers them (probably not a whole lot of customers who buy them )

Try looking up Victor in the Night Vision forum (it's in the "Arms & Tactics" section).  He is the owner of Tactical Night Vision and is extremely knowledgable.

Depends on how much you are willing to spend.  For $1,600 bucks you can get a D 300 gen 2 with an EO Tec. and Variable ELR. For 3,600  You can get a PVS 14, 6015 or MUM(gen 3) plus the EO Tec and Variable ELR. For another 300-400 bucks you can get a 3x lens for your monocular.
